All of the portraits are able to be painted or drawn from photographs taken by the artist. The photo session and printing are included in the price of the commission. However, clients are strongly encouraged to sit for their painting, as it makes for a more personal and accurate piece. After the artist and client agree on an image to work from, Katie creates a preliminary line drawing of the portrait. This drawing will be the exact dimension and composition of the actual piece so that the client can bring it home and insure that it will look appropriate in their personal space.
At this time, any changes can be made to the preliminary drawing until it is approved. When it is, 30% of the balance is to be paid so that the artist may proceed with the final piece. This down payment is non-refundable. The artist and client will agree on a deadline, and the rest of the balance and the finished portrait will be due on the same date. This entire process usually takes between 1 to 6 months, depending on the complexity of the portrait.
